What's going on...

- Added cover images for the books I've been in or written.
- Added a link to my new LiveJournal. It will be much easier to keep up with me there.

The best news ever for me. After five years of hard work on Grants Pass, I sold the anthology! I'm very excited for this. Tentative publication date is July 2009. I will have more news on it as I go along. I'm so glad I never gave up.

I'm just back from Norwescon and I realized that I should put up a convention schedule since I have that now.

So much has happened that I completely forgot to update this thing. I have just ended my eight month of my Writing Sabbatical Year. Let's see where my Year-to-Date report card is:

  • Submissions: 44 of 60+ (ahead)
  • New Short Stories: 23 of 24+ (ahead)
  • Freaky Friday Fictions: 37 of 50+ (on track)
  • Books read: 27 of 24+ (ahead)
  • Novel #1 word count: 76,210, Draft One Complete (on track)
  • Novel #2 word count: 34,500 (on track)

All very good. I am also working on two RPG projects, editing the Edge of Propinquity and tech writing for Amazon.com. GenCon was very good for networking this year. I am really pleased with it all.

    2007.01.03
  • I've started my Writing Year Sabbatical.
  • The Edge of Propinquity has started its second year and I am now looking for a hardcopy publisher for the first year. We published 191,000 words of fiction in 2006.
  • I've shifted to my next publisher to query for Grants Pass.
  • I'm about to query for Regresser's Evolution.
  • I've started the first of the two novels I will write in 2007.
  • We had 50 submissions for the TEoP before 2007 even began. I've sent out three acceptances.
  • Yeah. I'm a busy, busy author and that's the way I like it.
    2006.07.16
Even more has happened. The Edge of Propinquity is going strong, I have a query in for Grants Pass, and I co-wrote a book with Ed Greenwood. It is coming out in August 2006 at Gen Con Indy - which I will be going to. I am very excited about all of this. I had dumped Regresser's Evolution as a good story, crappy writing and an excellent lesson in novel writing. But, now, my brain keeps noodling over the 2nd and 3rd parts of it. So, I may go back and turn that into one long story, including a complete revamp of the 1st part. I don't know. Oh, and I have finally figured out how to take my Writing Year sabbatical from the ratrace in order to just write. Things are going well.

A lot has happened. I got published in Peridot Books. Both of my Dragonlance sourcebooks are out now to very good reviews. I will be lanching a webzine this month called "The Edge of Propinquity." Grants Pass is still being worked on. I'm still writing reviews for Black Gate. I've stepped up my submission of short stories. I have finished a final edit on Regresser's Evolution and will be sending query letters out for it. My plate is overflowing with writing goodness and it makes me very happy.

    1. I'm writing for Savvy Insider now.
    2. I just got a bunch of story splats accepted for a charity project called "Tricks, Tigers & Traps: Tales of Sinister Fates." All of the story ends are set like the ending of a "Choose your own adventure" novel. The "bad" endings were always so much more interesting than the "good" endings. I helped the editor name the book. I thought that was cool.
    3. The Grants Pass anthology is now half full! I'm pretty excited about this. I have it listed on the Ralan to get more submissions.
    4. Holy Order of the Stars is finally out in stores!
    2005.05.01
    1. Still working on Grants Pass.
    2. I just finished another writing contract for Sovereign Press on the new Dragonlance sourcebook: Time of the Twins.
    3. I don't know what's going on with Evolution last named Flat Iron. I think the project has been shelved.
    4. I'm on tap to work on the new Dragonvarld RPG from Sovereign Press in the summer of 2005.
    2004.11.11
    - I'm putting together an anthology project called: Grants Pass - It's a post-apocalyptic anthology.
    - I've just finished up a contract writing gig for Sovereign Press on a new book called Holy Order of Stars and I'm currently waiting for red line edits. It was a really good gig and I'm waiting for the next one.
    - I'm also in discussions for working on a new RPG world book and fiction called Evolution.
    - As if that isn't enough, I'm also writing up all of the Race packages for NERO Seattle. Possibly working on the world package.
    2004.05.08
The rejections, near acceptances and acceptances are starting to roll in again. Each one is a triumph in its own way. Some bigger than others.
    2004.03.27
Why yes, I'm still alive and kicking. I've had my hands full with my job, my home, my cat and my projects. I have several ongoing projects right now. All long term. So, they aren't really exciting to talk about.
    2003.11.29
I'm all moved now. I've participated in my own NaNoWriMo that I called NaFicSubMo - National Fiction Submission Month. My goal was to submit 30 works in 30 days. The end result ended up being 42 submissions.

    2003.03.15
I am aware that I am hugely behind in updating this site. Let's see...
  • Updated the Non-Fiction and Fiction bibliographies
  • Completed redline edits of Regresser's Evolution and had my first pass readers critique it.
  • I've started on a new novel dubbed Breaking the Chains - which is going to be a lot more gritty and less space opera-ish than Regresser's Evolution.
  • My company was bought out and I'm looking to relocate. So, things are going to be really chaotic and not well updated, most likely, until my life settles down again in late summer. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to write for Black Gate, Campaign and Games Unplugged magazines. I will also try to get some short story submissions done in there but no promises, no guilt.

  • 2002.11.21
Amazingly enough, I have finished the NaNoWriMo November Novel Dare ten days early! Regresser's Evolution is 50,104 words long and is going to spend the next couple of weeks stewing while I recovery from the insanity that is my life. *grin*

Also, it's official. I have been picked up by Campaign magazine for all of 2003 as their regular fiction contributor with my Tales of the Hucked Tankard series. *happy dance*

    2002.10.24
Let's see. I've turned in the next four Hucked Tankard tales to Campaign magazine. The Shadow Thief should be in Issue 5. The Rescue of King Byron should be in Issue 6. The Warrior's Call should be in Issue 7 and Beneath Blackthorn Battlements should be in Issue 8. I have only one left to do, then the waiting game begins again and I find out if I will be picked up for anymore stories.

In the meantime, Games Unplugged has officially added me to their roster of reviewers and I'm still writing for Black Gate magazine.

Finally, in a masochistic insanity that only authors can know, I have decided to join the NaNoWriMo November Novel Dare. My TTB of a novel has languished too long and this is the perfect way for me to get the story on paper. My characters seem all excited about it. They are constantly buzzing in the background of my mind.

    2002.08.16
*CHEER* Campaign magazine has just contracted me to write three more Hucked Tankard Tales! This will finish out 2002 for them.
    2002.08.12
Campaign magazine, Issue #4 is out with my story: Tales of the Hucked Tankard: The First Huck. So far, so good. The editor says that it is getting a good response.
    2002.08.10
Black Gate #4 is out now. It has my two reviews: Fairymeat: Sugar & Vice and Star Wars: The Dark Side Sourcebook.
